Marketing, for Multiple Audiences

Booktrovert was created by the team at NetGalley to support publishers’ consumer marketing efforts. Authors and publishers have long asked how they can best utilize NetGalley’s tools to reach—and activate—consumers with secure ebook giveaways, as well as pre-order and buy now promotions. NetGalley is answering the call with Booktrovert!

For readers, Booktrovert is its own unique destination—an online space they can return to again and again to create shareable digital bookshelves (driving ongoing organic community growth), interact with unique book discovery tools, and most importantly, participate in giveaways and special promotions created by you, the publisher or author.

Powered by NetGalley

For NetGalley clients (publishers, authors, or PR firms), Booktrovert is powered by NetGalley. This means you don’t need to go anywhere new; simply use your existing NetGalley account to set up the campaigns that will appear on Booktrovert.

Any NetGalley client—whether a subscription or pay-per-title client—can purchase Booktrovert campaigns, as well as optional add-ons for advertising and detailed analytics for giveaways.

With ebook sweepstakes and giveaways on Booktrovert, you benefit from NetGalley’s trusted methods for digital fulfillment to easily grant access to Booktrovert userswhile being unrelated to the book’s settings in NetGalley. This means a book can be private in NetGalley and still have a public campaign on Booktrovert! Furthering its flexibility, Booktrovert campaigns can also be private, if you want to limit access to exclusive audiences, expanding the Booktrovert use case to support event giveaways, book clubs, “street/launch team” copies, pre-order incentives, and more.

Distinct Tools

A Booktrovert campaign is distinct from the other NetGalley tools. When you build a Booktrovert campaign, the only relationship to NetGalley is that the book(s) are active in your NetGalley account. Book(s) must be active in the NetGalley service (including book cover and content files) in order to be eligible for a Booktrovert campaign. Learn more about Campaign Eligibility here.

Think about Booktrovert campaigns differently from and in addition to your NetGalley efforts. For instance, When you send your contacts a NetGalley Widget, you're providing pre-approved access to specific members, for a single book, with the goal of generating NetGalley activity like reviews and feedback for the book. With a Booktrovert campaign, you can run a digital Sweepstakes or Giveaway for multiple books, to offer access widely to generate buzz.
