Many publishers share NetGalley request links and widgets with authors, who can use these tools to help promote their title(s) to their contacts.
Here is some sample text to use with your authors. We recommend that you include a widget AND a request link that authors can utilize, as well as links to basic information about NetGalley such as our website site, Facebook page, and blog. You can download a one-sheet here, to give to your authors at the same time.
Dear [author],
Did you know that we recently uploaded your title to NetGalley?
NetGalley connects publishers and authors to an enthusiastic community of early influencers who will help their book succeed. Publishers and authors list their titles on NetGalley for members to request, read, and review, and members gain free access to a vast catalog of digital review copies.
We uploaded your title, plus any marketing and promotional information, and invited contacts to view the title on NetGalley. Readers can also find your title through NetGalley's catalog, and request to review it from us. Digital review copies can be read online, downloaded to a computer, and read on a Kindle, Nook, Sony Reader or other device. Readers also have access to the Press Kit, where publishers offer their marketing materials, book trailers, tour schedules, author bios and Q&As, cover art and photos, and more. The site is being used by reviewers, media professionals, booksellers, librarians and educators; by international publishers and agents looking to purchase rights; and by our sales reps when promoting your title to retail accounts.
WHAT CAN THE AUTHOR DO TO HELP?
Share your digital review copies! Do you know any bloggers? Did you speak to your local librarian about the book? Received an inquiry about a desk copy from your local college? Share the below with them to give them instant access to your book through NetGalley. Think of everyone who could use early access to your book in order to drive publicity and sales.
