Creating an Open Widget

The NetGalley Open Widget is a great way to reach your key contacts directly, by giving them pre-approved access to your book. Unlike Secure Widgets, Open Widgets are not associated with a particular email address; anyone who receives the link (even if the widget is forwarded or passed along) can click on the widget, register or login, and view the title. Read more about Widgets here.

You can create Open Widgets from several places within your client account.

On the Dashboard:

The Manage Titles page (via the purple gear icon):

and the Title Details page:

After clicking the Invite Contacts link change the Widget Type to Open Widget:

Now customize the widget to your liking. There are three options to how it can look:

  • cover image only
  • text only
  • text with cover image

After checking off the widget consent checkbox and pressing "Next" you will see your finished widget! To use the widget in your email follow these steps:

  1. Highlight the image and link,
  2. Press Ctrl+C/Cmd+C on keyboard
  3. Or (on a PC) Right-click and choose Copy (do not choose “Copy Image”),
  4. And then paste into your own email.

Please note: You must be logged out of your client account to test the widget. Need help? Email concierge@netgalley.com

You can also generate a list of OPEN widgets for all of your active titles from your Dashboard.

We also have some template language for sending widgets to your contacts found here, which you can customize to suit your needs.
