How to Create a Booktrovert Campaign

Reach a consumer audience, without having to leave your NetGalley account! Booktrovert is a consumer-facing advertising platform powered by NetGalley, built to drive visibility, discovery, and sales for your books. While NetGalley’s community is comprised of professional book advocates, Booktrovert reaches everyday readers—those who want to discover their next great read and are ready to buy, share, and spread the word.

Before you begin, be sure to carefully consider your campaign goals! Example campaign goals can be found here. For more ideas, see 10 Ways to Use Booktrovert!

How-To

Create your campaign in a few quick steps for any upcoming date, as long as it’s 24 hours in advance.

  1.  Click “Campaigns” in the Top Navigation
Head to the Campaigns tab in your NetGalley dashboard to get started. Then click Create Campaign.
  2. Fill in Your Campaign Details
Set the tone for your campaign! See a visual example here.

    • Campaign Visibility: Choose public or private, depending on your audience.

    • Campaign Start date: Booktrovert campaign pages are active for seven (7) days. Giveaways are limited by time, and can be active anywhere from 24 hours to the full 7 days, after which the CTA switches to retail.

    • Campaign Header & Campaign Text: appear beside your book cover and remain visible across all titles if you’re including more than one.

    • Categories: Choose 2!

  3. Select Your Title(s)
No need to upload assets—NetGalley automatically supplies your cover, description, and metadata. Just choose which title(s) to include.

  4. Add Book-Specific Details & CTA
    For each title, you’ll:

    • Write a Book Headline (a teaser or hook!).

    • Add Book Text—a short, engaging description that appears below the book cover.

    • Choose a CTA: Sweepstakes, Giveaway, Pre-Order, or Buy. If using Giveaway, set a time limit or keep active for the full 7 days.

    • Provide Retail Links: Bookshop.org, B&N, and a custom URL (often the publisher’s site or preferred retailer, especially if advertising a special sale price via Buy CTA).

  5. Finalize or Add More Books
Once your book details are complete, you can click to add optional advertising Add-Ons (like Detailed Analytics and a Teaser Countdown!), or click “Add Another Book” to include additional titles. Hit “Finish” to proceed with your purchase.
