As a NetGalley client, you maintain complete control over how readers access your book or audiobook. We offer flexible options on the visibility of your titles, and no matter what you choose, you will always have reporting information on who is accessing your titles.
You can change the options by clicking on the Title Details page of your book and using the menu on the left-hand side.
PRIVATE/ INVITE ONLY: You can keep your title Private, so that NetGalley members do not know it is available on the site unless you specifically invite them to view it using the NetGalley widget, or using a link to the book to collect wishes.
REQUESTS ALLOWED/AVAILABLE IN "FIND TITLES": Your title will be available for members to request when they are browsing Find Titles. If you select this option, you will make the decision to approve or decline each member request before access is granted for that specific title. Note that members of your Auto-Approved List can gain access to any of your books that are available to request automatically.
You can also allow requests from only certain member types, for specific time periods. Just as you send out print galleys at different times (booksellers typically receive galleys months before bloggers, for example), you can schedule availability of title on NetGalley by member type. Please click here for full information and best practices.
Each time you approve or decline an individual request, the member receives an email notifying them of this. You can create a custom default message that will always be sent, or you can change the approval and decline emails for a single book.
READ or LISTEN NOW: This option will list your title as Read/Listen Now in the catalog. Members will have instant approval for the title. This option is best for books where you wish to approve all requests automatically, without having to manually approve or decline each one.
Members can browse Read/Listen Now titles from the main page of Find Titles. You can always see which members have added your books to their Shelf from the Approval History page for that title, found on the Title Details page.
Note: Read/Listen Now will override Region preferences.
When you add your title to Find Titles, whether as “Requests Allowed” or “Read Now”, it will be visible to members in the catalog immediately. Note: The book carousels (Recently Added, Read Now, etc.) on both the main Find Titles landing page and Category pages are cached to enhance overall site performance, so there may be a short lag time before your book appears.
You can also limit requests only from certain regions or territories.
Within your account, you can set default region settings, which will be applied to all new titles when they are created. This will dictate on which NetGalley site your books appear (NetGalley.com or NetGalley.co.uk or both) and which regions can request titles. You can also set region settings on a per-title basis.
